My first full-time
job was as a high school mathematics teacher at Tamarac
HS, outside of Troy. I
loved it, but after 4 years I was only making $10,000, so I sought a
better-paying position.
Next at IBM in Albany, I worked as a
systems
engineer
and later as a
public
sector industry specialist. I
worked with NYS government agencies and school districts to determine their
automation requirements. After the introduction of the IBM PC, I often
conducted PC training sessions.
Teaching at
St. Rose is my 3rd career! I
started as an adjunct instructor (for 10 years while my children were young) and
I am now in my tenth year as a full-time professor.
So you can see that all of
my various jobs have had to do with teaching, computers, or both!
