The Teaching Committee is one of the special committees organized by the Conference on Latin American History (CLAH) to carry out its goal of improving the teaching of Latin American history.  Its members must be members of the Conference.  The Teaching Committee meets at the annual convention to conduct its formal business, to plan future activities, and to foster the exchange of ideas related to teaching. It also publishes regular columns in the CLAH newsletter and maintains this website to make available materials and resources essential to the teaching of Latin American history.

All members of CLAH are invited to join and participate with the Teaching Committee at its annual meeting.  The 2005 session in Seattle will be devoted to a roundtable discussion of teaching about the history of Africans and their descendants in Latin America. All are invited to discuss a new PBS series that Professor Henry Louis Gates has proposed on the subject. Individuals interested in joining the Teaching Committee should contact Keith Haynes at haynesk@mail.strose.edu
